Creative Yarns- Scarborough, Ontario

We are well overdue for another yarn shop feature, so we thought that we would try a shop that is fairly ‘close to home’ for us- this shop is literally just around the corner from Estelle!

So, without further ado, we introduce to you Nina Klecki of Creative Yarns.

When did you open your shop? It was eight years ago this month. Where does the time go???

What made you want to open up at yarn store? I’m still not sure. That’s a good question. HAHA! My husband really encouraged me and inspired me. He knew that it was something that I had wanted to do for a really long time, and so we finally decided together, to make my dream a reality.

What do you personally like to knit? Garter stitch- anything in garter! Garter stitch is good for when I am at the shop, as I can help customers- but still knit at the same time! I also like to work on my own designs.

Do you sell your finished sweaters? Yes I do! They are available for purchase in the shop.

Do you have a website? Yes, I can be found at www.creativeyarns.ca. I also have a page for my sweaters on my shop’s site, which can be found here.

How long have you been knitting? AGES! OH MY GOSH! Since I was a little girl.

What makes your shop unique? COFFEE! And lots of chocolate.

Do you offer classes? Which ones are your most popular? Our finishing class is our most popular. Then I would say, twined knitting. The full lineup can be found online.

What is your favourite/most popular Estelle Yarn? Lang sock yarn sells really well for us. People just can’t get enough sock yarn!

What do you want people to know about running a shop? That it doesn’t make you rich, that’s for sure! Haha! But that it’s so nice to do what I love every single day.

Anything else that you would like to share about your shop? We are a great place for people to come to, who might feel lonely, and want some extra moral support in regards to their knitting. My shop is always full of friendly knitters, so you can come and makes friends, and find encouragement.

Thank you Nina for taking the time to chat with us!
