KAL Prize Re-Cap

We know what it’s like when the end of a knitting project is in sight. While nothing feels better than casting something off, weaving in the ends, and displaying/wearing your finished project proudly, it also feels really good to start something new.

Since we know that sometimes getting a project to the finish line can feel like a challenge, we thought that we would dangle a few carrots to help get you there.

Remember how we promised prizes at the end of all of this? Well, we thought that a reminder of what those prizes are couldn’t hurt. All you have to do in order to qualify- is finish up your sweater! Sew it up, weave in the ends, snap a few pictures, send them to us… and you’re in! You have until May 4th to complete this task, and we know that you can do it!

The first prize up for grabs is a really fabulous book by Cascade Yarns called 60 Quick Baby Knits, and the title says it all. Not only is this book filled with 60 patterns, it is filled with 60 GREAT patterns, all aimed at the little ones in your life. Everyone knows of babies being born, so this is a fabulous addition to any knitter’s personal library. But this isn’t where the prize ends! We are also going to throw in a bag of Cascade 220 Superwash, the yarn that has been used in every pattern in this book. Each ball of yarn is 100 grams, and each bag contains ten balls of yarn (all of the same colour), which means that you should easily get through a good handful of patterns in this book!

Next up on the prize table, is a really beautiful book that is brought to us by King Cole, simply called Aran Book 1. This book is filled with classic, cabled styles, but we don’t want you to be intimidated by these seemingly complex cabled patterns! Now that you have completed your KAL sweater, you have a lot of the skills needed to make the styles in this book. And while cables may look scary and complicated… we assure you that they appear way more difficult than they actually are. A quick search on YouTube, and you will wonder why you have avoided cables for all these years!

In addition to the book, we are also going to include a bag of King Cole Fashion Aran, a wonderful Acrylic/Wool blend yarn that is soft, washable, and just what you need to make any one of the garments from this book. Each ball is 100 grams, and each bag contains 12 balls, so feel free to go ahead and cast on that epic Aran sweater that you have been itching to knit for ages! We have got you covered.

And lastly, we are offering a knitting kit to make a throw, using a Borgo de Pazzi yarn, Naturalia. This kit will include the yarn, and the pattern (needles not included). This yarn is a fairly chunky weight, making the throw a quick knit. Keep it for yourself, or give it as a gift! That is entirely up to you. Throws make great wedding gifts, so why not?

Once again, we want to thank those of you who participated in our KAL for being a part of things! We have had so much fun watching the photos roll in, and we look forward to May 4th, when we can finally announce the winners!

One last time- finish your sweater, snap some pictures, email us at lynn@estelledesigns.ca or marsha@estelleyarns.com and tell us what yarn you used/where you bought it. Your name will then be entered in the draw. Easy as that!

Happy knitting everyone!
