More KAL Show & Share!

For those of you who have been following us on our various social media outlets, you might think that today is the day we announce the winners of our KAL! And for those of you who do think this… we can’t say that we blame you!

Somehow, in the midst of all of the excitement, we lost track of our agreed upon end date, and got confused in our social media blasts.

We were completely convinced that today was the day!

But if you happen to scroll back to the verrrrrrry beginning of this big adventure, you will discover that in fact today is NOT the end date- but next week!

So, the good news for those of you who were struggling to make it to the finish line, you still have time!

You must have your sweaters submitted by this Friday, May 8th, and the winner will be announced (for real this time) on Monday, May 11th.

The bad news for those of you who finished up your sweaters on time is that you have to wait another week until you find out if you have won! And we apologize deeply for that!

And so in order to make it up to you, we have some more ‘Show & Share’ for you!

This first sweater comes from Louise who manages Yarn Forward’s Kanata location. She knit her version of the KAL sweater using King Cole’s Authentic Cotton Mix DK for the main portion of the sweater, and then striped a ball of King Cole Country Tweed  throughout the cuffs and yoke. Doesn’t it look fantastic??? What a marvelous idea to stripe with self-striping yarn! We love how it turned out! We also love how well Louise managed to match up the striping on her cuffs! Wow! Now THAT, takes patience and determination- which we greatly admire!

The next version of the sweater that we would like to share with you is this very sweet striped version that was knit by a very talented knitter named Marie. Marie used King Cole Authentic Cotton Mix DK, which she purchased at Soper Creek Yarns in Bowmanville, Ontario.

Isn’t it just so sweet? We love this because it could easily be worn by boys or girls (there is simply NOTHING better than a hand-knit-hand-me-down!), and the added detail of the two extra stripes on the right sleeve are so perfect!

We want to thank Louise and Marie for sending us these pictures! It is just so fun to see how so many knitters have used the same pattern, but personalized it to be their very own. Don’t you think?

And to all of you other knitters still working away- please have photos of your sweaters emailed to us by 11:59 pm on Friday, May 8th. You can email us at lynn@estelledesigns.ca or marsha@estelleyarns.com.

Thanks once again to each and every single one of you who has participated thus far! And we apologize for our confusion regarding the end date.

Happy knitting everyone!
