Spring (Gasp!) Sneak Peek!

Happy 2017 dearest knitters and crocheters! We hope that you all had a wonderful holiday season, and are feeling enthusiastic about tackling the year ahead. Perhaps you may have set some knitting goals/resolutions for yourself? If so, let us know what they are! We find ourselves being so easily inspired by other knitters and crocheters- so please do share!

All across Canada, people are all finding ourselves in the throes of Winter. But here at the office, we are busy welcoming Spring! In the form of yarn that is! While Canadians generally love to gripe about the colder months, it is usually over before we know it- especially if our time is spent knitting to keep warm!

So while you work away on your warm, woolly stash, allow us to share with you a bit about what is brewing for Spring 2017 at Estelle Yarns!

Every knitter should have a well stocked pattern book library, and Lang Yarns has recently released one that anybody who knits for kids simply must have on their shelves. Filled with stylish, yet classic kid’s knitwear that any little person would love to wear, and any big person would love to knit, this book is guaranteed to inspire. With patterns including colour work, intarsia, cables, mitered squares and basic garter stitch, this book covers techniques that both ambitious beginner’s and seasoned experts will equally enjoy.

Using many of Lang’s most popular yarns such as Yak, Mille Colori Baby, and Donegal, not only are the patterns timeless, the yarns are too.

This book will be available in local yarn shops across Canada by the end of January, so be sure to call your LYS to get your copy put aside!

Should you want to get your hands on a fresh Lang pattern before the book is available in stores, then perhaps you should head over to Ravelry and check out some of the patterns that Lang is offering for paid download. Using their popular Mille Colori, now available in a 200 gram ball, this pattern includes a hat, wrist warmers and a cowl- and uses only one ball of yarn!

So knit the set, then decide if you want to keep all the pieces for yourself, or split them up among friends. The choice is yours! But we certainly won’t judge if you decide to keep them all for yourself… Who could blame you if you did?

And since no ‘yarn report’ would be complete without mentioning sock yarn, Lang Yarns will be releasing new shades in the popular Jawoll sock yarn and Jawoll Cotton Stretch over the next three months. January’s installment is bold and masculine, with the kind of strong stripes that all knitters love. By February you will be able to find a series of six new speckled shades on the shelves, and March will bring bright, cotton stripes. So be sure to ask your local yarn shop about these new sock yarns! And keep your eyes open each month, as the new shades roll out.

So stay warm dear knitters and crocheters! And take comfort in knowing that while it may very well be cold outside, we are already planning ahead to Spring.

Watch this space for more sneak peeks of what’s to come!

Happy knitting/new year one and all!
