Calling All Contest Lovers!

If there is anything that can help inspire a knitter in the warmer months, it’s a Knit Along. And if there’s anything more exciting and inspiring than a Knit Along, it’s a Mystery Knit Along!

Cascade Yarns, in partnership with Interweave Knits and renowned designer Susanna IC, has come up with a super-fun and mysterious shawl pattern for which clues will be released every Tuesday in June.Beginning June 5th, and every following Tuesday, a “clue” – or a portion of the pattern – will be released on the Interweave Blog. There will be total of four clues released, with written tutorials to accompany each portion of the pattern.

We’ve not seen the shawl yet, but we are told it is spectacular, and judging from other designs by Susanna IC on Ravelry, we aren’t too surprised. Also, considering the yarn for this project is none other than Cascade Sorata, we are confident that this shawl will be outstanding.

Sorata is a luxurious blend of 70% llama and 30% silk that has a delicate sheen and sensational drape – everything you want for a shawl.

While this IS a mystery knit along, the folks at Interweave have been kind enough to let us know that this is a great project for intermediate and advance knitters, but adventurous beginners are certainly welcome to participate as well. Techniques include slip-stitch colour work, garter stitch, lace and stocking stitch. Intrigued? We surely are!

Here’s what we know for sure so far…there are three base colours – grey, navy and charcoal. This is sounding better and better all the time isn’t it?

We think these three base colours are a fantastic start, and the addition of the fourth colour is where things really start to pop! Scarlet, teal or antique moss are the choices for the accent colour and we think you’ll agree that these bold and becoming shades will really stand out!

We’ve got one Oshara Shawl Kit we want to give away to one very fortunate knitter! This gorgeous kit includes one ball of each of the three base colours and one ball of the accent colour. It comes in a zippered vinyl bag with a nifty little card supplied by Cascade. All you have to do in order to win is like and share this post on our Facebook page and you’re good to go. The winner will be chosen using a random name generator on Friday, July 6th, and announced on Monday, July 9th. Cross your fingers!!

If you’re itching to get in on this Knit Along and just can’t wait, head on down to your LYS and pick up an Oshara Shawl Kit for yourself. What colour will you choose for your accent? Be sure to post pictures of your progress and tag Estelle Yarns, we love seeing what you’re working on!

Happy knitting and crocheting everyone!
