All for just finishing a children’s sweater in under ten weeks!

Commencing on Monday, March 2 (mark your calendars!), we will be releasing a portion of a children’s sweater pattern weekly, included with ‘tips and tricks’. The knit-a-long will be broken down into six sessions, with each session going live on our Facebook page, Ravelry page and blog every Monday, through until Monday, April 6th. We have given you four extra weeks at the end of the six weeks, in order to complete the sweater without a restrictive time frame.
Yarn– Any DK weight yarn that Estelle Yarns sells. We will be featuring three sample sweaters; one knit using the new yarn by King Cole called Authentic in a colour block format, one using Cascade 220 Superwash in a striped pattern, and one knit using a popular self-striping yarn by King Cole Splash. In order to qualify for the prize, you must knit your sweater using a brand of yarn sold to your local yarn shop by Estelle Yarns. We will post an extensive list of yarns, closer to the start date.
The breakdown of the class schedule will be as follows:
Week 1: Preparation. Yarn choice suggestions, swatching, deciding on knitting a solid, striped, or colour-blocked sweater.
Week 2: Knitting the back.
Week 3: Knitting the front.
Week 4: Knitting the sleeves.
Week 5: Assembling and blocking the sweater.
Week 6: Catch up week for those who may have fallen behind, or to address any questions that may have arisen at this point.
Submissions are due by Friday, May 8th, 2015, which is ten weeks following the kick off date. This gives you a little extra time to finish your sweaters up. No online classes will be posted during these weeks, just lots of words of encouragement.
We will post photos of three versions of the finished sweater before the KAL begins, as well as ongoing progress shots as they relate to each week’s session.
How to win the prize- It’s simple! Submit a photo of the finished garment to us, and provide us with the name of the yarn used, and the colour number(s). We will randomly draw three names from the submissions and announce the winner on Facebook, Ravelry and the blog on Monday, May 11th.
Throughout the Knit-A-Long, your progress shots and questions are welcomed! We would love to share your inquiries and pictures through social media, and connect with other knitters.
