Summer Knits

We know that a lot of people have a hard time wrapping their head around the concept of ‘Summer Knits’. Both knitters and non-knitters alike sometimes say “Huh??? Summer and knits??? Together???” when the topic of Summer knitting/knits comes up. But trust us! ‘Summer Knits’ are an actual thing!

Not only are there a lot of us out there who don’t let the warmer weather slow us and our knitting needles down, there is also always a need for a few nice ‘warmer weather’ knits in your wardrobe!

And to prove it to you all, we gathered a few ready made Summer sweaters from around the web, that are current for this season. So go ahead! Click around! And maybe it will inspire you to cast on your own version.Gap Mesh TopGap Mesh Sweater

This sweater is a simple crew neck pullover, but knit in a cotton blend yarn in an open mesh pattern stitch. Such a pretty way to use a yarn like this! Wouldn’t King Cole’s Authentic Cotton DK be a great yarn to create your own version of this?

Banana Republic Cropped Sweater Tank

This stunning vest/tank is off the charts- we love it! And while we can’t recommend a pattern that would make anything similar to this (can you?), it does remind us of a lot of things that Lang comes out with in their Summer collections. This seems like a good excuse to hunker down with a cold glass of lemonade and a stack of Lang Summer books! Knit in a plain stocking stitch, this vest could afford to be knit in a multi-coloured yarn, without making the garment too busy. Maybe some Rico Fashion Fantasy would make for a great yarn for this garment???

This textured cabled sweater is just so pretty… however, us knitters are having a hard time finding the cables in this! We are willing to give the non-knitter who clearly named this sweater the benefit of the doubt. Because we just love it that much! The open stitch work, the oversized shape… We feel like some King Cole Opium knit up in a simple pattern (you could nix the diagonal lace stitch in lieu of a textured yarn!) would be simply stunning- and comparable!

And lastly, this gorgeous tank. While we might be more inclined to wear this as a layering piece, the model pictured here can certainly pull it off. A yarn that we are certain could do something similar is Lang’s Filo. With a very unique and distinct texture, it gives a look that is quite similar to this tank. We love it!

So there you have it. A beautiful and versatile collection of Summer knits that could easily carry over into the cooler months as layering pieces.

So, what Summer knits do you have on the needles currently? Do share!

Happy knitting everyone!
