Block #13 in the Cascade Knitterati KAL was released a few days early this week and Team Estelle volunteer knitter Trish, was over the moon as soon as she saw it. Having recently discovered the beauty of Japanese stitches, this gentle introduction was a welcome treat.
Much to the delight of many of the participating knitters, Block #12 was hands down the fastest block to date and used the least amount of yarn. The rhythmic lace repeat was intuitive and addictive, and with just forty rows of pattern, it knit up in record time.
We used Cascade 220 Superwash Merino colour 69, Golden Palm, for block #12 and the rich and deep colour saturation was perfectly fitting to showcase the delicate lace work. The yarn didn’t split at all when working the decreases and every stitch glided off the needles with ease.
Block #13 was designed by Mari Tobita whose work has been featured in a number of different knitting magazines and on Ravelry. If you’ve never heard of Mari before, chances are you will never forget her after completing this square.
Twisted stitches form wandering vines from which tiny, exquisite flowers emerge. Wrapped stitch clusters add depth and dimension and create an eye-catching design. This pattern is thoughtful and engaging and with twisted stitches on every row, you will be a master of ptbl by the time you’re finished.
It’s hard to believe that once we’re done Block #13 we only have three more blocks to do! We’ve learned so much along the way, we’re almost sad to see it come to an end. Although, we’re pretty sure that sadness will melt away quickly as soon as we wrap up in our new lapghan!
It’s never too late to get in on the Knitterati action should you find yourself so inclined. There’s nothing saying you absolutely have to do it in a certain time frame nor that you have to do each and every block. Work at your pace and choose the blocks that interest you the most.
